Higher Self Therapy
OK,
If you've studied anything about Huna, you should recognize some simple truths ...
The essential format of Higher Self Therapy involves you making a conscious agreement with your unihipili to make a change.
Step 1: Identify the project you're working on.
What do you want to change?
Now ... your High Self recognizes the causes of any given condition, and HOW to remedy it. And ... because your High Self understands your true nature ... you want to involve it because it also has a higher understanding of the consequences of any given action.
The book Recovering the Ancient Magic has an excellent section on the nature of the High Self and its higher thinking processes.
Step 2: Verbally affirm your agreement that it is OK to allow yourself to experience the release and healing on this project with the help of your High Self.
As you clear out those old patterns, you want to prepare yourself for the future ... a time when a
situation arises that used to trigger the old pattern, but now triggers you to accept guidance from your High Self instead.
Very important.
Now. ...
Step 3: Allow your High Self to do it's job of changing that limiting pattern into a new empowering pattern that preserves all those special qualities of understanding that you have gained from personal experience.
Step 4: Notice when you have finished.
OK.
That's just a basic outline.
There are a number of positive experiences you can have that will confirm your success, and we can put more light on those things as we're progressing.

My dear friend and mentor, Koko, has been appearing to Sarah and me quite often lately.
I truly believe this is a good sign!
As we're preparing for October, so many things are happening.
Big changes ...
... all good!
So many wonderful learning experiences have presented themselves these past two years ... even though it's been a "roller-coaster-ride" ... spiritual evolution is always a blessing.
In recent weeks I've been re-connecting with many Hawaiian Kupuna.
When I announced the opening of "The Secret Vault" plan for this Fall, I had NO idea how powerful it is going to be.
"Never cease to be amazed!"
Let me give you another hint of things to come:
Ka Ha O Na Kupuna
The sacred breath of life, the spirit of our ancestors.
Na Kuleana O Hawaii is presenting The Kupuna Tour ... an evening of wisdom and the essence of life.

Here is their basic "mission statement."
Ka Hā O Nā Kūpuna
The Hawaiian identity, our unique and precious way of life has been passed on from generation to generation through the ha of our kupuna.
The word “alo-ha” is a combination of two words: alo meaning ones’ front, face, or presence and ha – the sacred breath of life. It was the custom of our kupuna to exchange ha by pressing noses together and exhale, thus exchanging each others’ ha upon greeting.
In Hawai’i still today, breath is considered sacred. As Tutu Elizabeth Pa Chai says, “Breath is important because when God created man He – ha – breathed him into life.”
The sacred breath of life passed on from our ancestors is vibrantly alive in our greatest living treasures and resources: our kupuna still living today. Within them lies the essence of our Hawaiian identity. This sacred ha is what they desperately want to impart to us before it is too late. It is this very breath that sustains us through our language, and our cultural values, world view and beliefs.
The ha of our ancestors also includes the native intelligence, the talents, skills, and abilities that enabled our ancestors to cross thousands of miles of open ocean without navigational instruments; that same kind of intellectual genius enabled them to thrive and flourish in our island home.
We have a right and a responsibility to ensure that the ha of our ancestors live on in us so that our ‘ohana, our families, can once again live, breathe, move and have our being rooted in our Hawaiian identity.
The wealth of knowledge to be imparted by our precious kupuna will nourish our Hawaiian souls; it will be the most precious gift that we have to share with the world.

I got an email from Pali Jae Lee encouraging me to do my part to share Koko's vision with the world. It is beautifully outlined in her book Ho'opono.
She is actively spreading his message of Aloha, but the 'Ohana Paia-Kapela-Willis no longer meets ... they have not met since Koko died.
So ... since Koko hanai'd me, I would be one of the hanai (adopted) member of the 'Ohana Paia-Kapela-Willis, and obligated to do my part to help in any way I can.
Because so much is going on "behind-the-scenes," I may not be posting as often as usual ... but all good things will come to those who wait ;->

Ancient Hawaiian Huna Healing
The HUNATM system ... which eventually spread throughout the world, has influenced the basic beliefs of all modern religions.
Unfortunately outside influences ultimately contaminated the original beliefs and the system became lost. However, many of the concepts were preserved in the remote islands of Polynesia and have been recovered, in part, during the past century.
Huna, which means "secret," teaches that man is composed of three separate and independent units of consciousness which make use of the physical body during life.
This belief correlates nicely with modern psychology's subconscious mind, conscious mind and super-conscious mind.

Why do these techniques often fail to produce the desired results?

The people who knew this secret system practiced a very sophisticated, but easy-to-use form, of positive thinking that applies the complete law of attraction with spectacular results.

Instead, a special language was developed, which provided a means of giving both an inner and an outer meaning to any statement of the teachings.
These dual meanings were similar to the initiatory statements of the lodges and brotherhoods that we have today.
Only an initiate of the particular lodge can understand a particular secret phrase or statement. Similarly, only the Kahuna initiates could understand the inner meaning of a Huna phrase or statement.
Max Freedom Long spent the greater part of his life researching this special language. He wrote several books recording his findings, which describe in detail the "code" as he knew it.
He came upon evidence that there had been such a system of knowledge almost by accident, and then devoted more than fifty years unearthing and correlating the bits and pieces,.
We have only recently come into full possession of the priceless knowledge.
According to Charles Kenn ... Max Freedom Long became acquainted with Doctor William Tufts Brigham and they became life-long friends. When they met, Dr. Brigham was the curator of the Bishop Museum of Natural History in Honolulu. When they met, Max had already spent forty years studying the Hawaiians, their society, religion and other aspects of their culture. Hearing that the Hawaiian Kahuna priests had fire-walked on red hot lava as it flowed from a volcano, he asked Dr. Brigham it there was any truth in the reports.
"Yes," he said, "these Kahuna priests lava-walked in my early days here in Hawaii."
He went on to explain how he himself had walked across red hot lava. He had burned off his heavy mountain boots and socks, yet his feet remained unburned. No one had treated his feet. All that the natives did was to pray for protection from the heat, and this protection was given.
Continuing this questioning, Long also confirmed the Kahuna priests had done remarkable healings.
"What have these people got?" he demanded.
Dr. Brigham replied ...
"A system of psychology and religion, which is pure enough and close enough to its source, whatever that is, to work for them. I have tried for forty years to learn how they perform their magic, but to no avail. The secret lore is very sacred to the native priests."
After this meeting with Dr. Brigham, Mr. Long spent the next sixteen years in Hawaii trying to find the meaning behind the chants and prayers of the Hawaiian priests. He continued the research later in California and, by 1936, had gained a fair knowledge of the basic principles of the secret lore.
Archaeologists have established that the present inhabitants of the Polynesian archipelago originally migrated from the Asian mainland. A study of Huna and its origins agrees with these findings.
In 1948, Werner Wolf revealed the similarity between the Egyptian glyph writings and the "Paddle Board" writings of the natives of Easter Island in the Pacific. He suggested some ancient tie between the Egyptians and the Easter Island branch of the Polynesians. Max Freedom Long's research definitely suggests the Polynesian Kahuna beiefs may have their origins in ancient Egypt.
His first book, "Recovering the Ancient Magic," was published in England. Among those who read it was Reginald Stewart, a war correspondent, who as a young man had learned of this same ancient lore from a tribe of Berbers in the Atlas mountains of North Africa.
An old woman, called a "Quahine." had demonstrated the workability of the ancient system.
In fact, she took young Stewart as a blood son and started to teach him, together with her seventeen-year-old daughter, the ancient beliefs and practices. Unfortunately, she had only made a beginning of her instructions when she was accidentally killed by a stray bullet from a battle going on in a valley between two warring tribes. As there was no other teacher to be found, Stewart returned to England, carrying his notes with him. Years later when, reading Max's book, he realized that Long was writing about the same system he had learned, in part, from her.
Many of the special words that his teacher had used to describe her beliefs were almost identical to the Hawaiian. He sent Long a letter and soon was sharing what he knew. Together they managed to piece together the basics of the secret lore.
Among the other things the Quahine or "Woman Kahuna" had told Stewart was the legend of how her tribe had once been a part of twelve sub-tribes who had known and used Huna principles, and who had lived in the Sahara Desert when it was still a green and fertile land of flowing rivers. As the rivers dried, the tribes foresaw that their lore was in danger of extinction. Concerned, they used their psychic powers to look about the world for a place to which they could move, an area where they would find safety for their beliefs. The place that they chose was the isolated Pacific.
The tribes left Egypt and went in large double canoes down the Red Sea into the Indian Ocean, and eventually made their way to the far Pacific Isles. There were, she said, twelve tribes; however, her tribe remained behind as a rear guard lest the others be detained by the rulers of the period. They eventually reached the Atlas mountain area where they were able to preserve the secret lore. The eleven tribes which got away divided. At least one tribe traveled along the coast of Africa to Madagascar. Some evidently settled there, since half of the island today, over two thousand years later, is inhabited by a light brown people, who speak a language which is one of the Polynesian dialects, called Malagasy.
Other Huna people migrated through Arabia and into India. In India they left traces of their ideas, but little of their language. Whereas in Madagascar the language provides the evidence, in India it comes from the ideas which were left behind. The Kahunas must have made friends with the religious men of that period. Apparently, the teachers of Yoga were initiated into the Huna Magic.
Unfortunately, the beliefs gradually became contaminated. As an example, breathing exercises, vital to the practitioners of Huna, are also important in Yoga. However, the yogis began to experiment and over the years most of the Huna concepts became mixed and muddled, until finally very little of the practical application of the original system exists in Yoga today.
On the other hand, the original Huna beliefs were still pure when Buddha established his doctrine as a reform of the Brahmanism of his day. Obviously, there was a knowledge of Huna on the part of Buddha and his followers, because there are esoteric elements of Buddhism which can be understood only by knowing the Huna system. For example, the concept of attaining Nirvana, ordinarily understood as blending back into the source of all life and thus ceasing to exist, takes on an entirely different meaning when one understands Huna.
From India the ten remaining initiate tribes migrated through the Sumatra and Java straits. The Madagascar tribe did not join them. In the islands of the Pacific are ten different dialects of the Polynesian tongue represented in New Zealand, in Hawaii, in Tahiti, in Samoa and in the smaller islands of the Pacific area.
Because of the remote location of these islands, the people were able to preserve their beliefs and practice them for over two thousand years, free from the influence of other beliefs.
The Huna people evidently settled in the Polynesian Islands before the writing of the Four Gospels because when the missionaries arrived in Hawaii, they were surprised to find that the natives knew all the main stories of the Old Testament, but knew nothing that was contained in the New Testament. Their legends told the story of the creation of Adam and Eve and the Garden. They had a close account of Noah and the Flood. They even knew of Jonah and the Whale. These were stories that had come from Chaldea and Babylonia, when the Jews were in captivity there. However, in none of the Hawaiian legends can be found even a trace of the story of Jesus or Mary or the Crucifixion.
The missionaries, who arrived in Hawaii in 1820, could not understand how the natives had learned the Old Testament stories. If early explorers had taught stories of Adam and Eve, they certainly would have told of Jesus and his disciples.
Following the migration to Polynesia, the system flourished.
The Kahuna who knew the secret system were healers. They could heal broken bones, often in an instant. They were also able to look into the future.
Then the missionaries arrived.
The Hawaiians were impressed by their claim that Jesus performed healing miracles and, quite naturally, assumed that the Christians knew all about the Huna system. The missionary doctors, however, could not heal their sick as readily as the Kahuna healers. So the natives eventually realized that these Christians, while they had the outer semblance of some Huna, did not know the complete working system.
As the missionaries obtained political influence over the chiefs, and the Kahuna were outlawed.
The younger generation, the daughters and the sons who normally would have taken initiation and would have learned the secret, dill not undertake the necessary training. Gradually, as the older Kahuna began to die, the secret lore began to die as well.
Huna, after having been kept pure and intact throughout all the centuries, almost became lost.
The “Kahuna Motto” was the rule.
* "Conceal in Secrecy."
* "Preserve in Silence."
* "Disguise our Inner Teachings with a False Outer Mask."
* "Those who are "born into our house" are entitled to know the secrets of our
house."
* "Those who do NOT belong are not entitled to know what we know."
However, our brother King Kalakaua summoned all of the most accomplished of the Kahuna Class from throughout the islands to the palace. He gathered everyone of importance, including High Temple Priests skilled in the arts of divination, philosophers, historians, doctors of spiritual medicine, etc.
The secret knowledge passed down orally in the priesthood through the generations was finally recorded in writing and locked away in the King's palace.
Then, on January 17, 1893 ... the day Kalakaua's sister, Queen Liliokalani was dethroned ... drug dealers and smugglers broke in to the palace and burned the former King's filing room.
Only Nana Mary Julia Glennie Bush survived to preserve the "secret treasure" of the Hamatua strong-hold. These teachings were passed-down to Leinani Melville, who alone preserved the Lost Secrets of the Kahuna.
Before he died, Leinani gave the only existing copy of the "Lost and Hidden Secrets of the Esoteric Code of the Kahuna" to Morrnah Simeona to keep it secure until she could pass it on to “The True Legacy of the Kahuna."
With the blessing of the living Kahuna Elders at the time, Morrnah gave that manuscript to Dr. E. Otha Wingo, to whom Max Freedom Long entrusted his entire life’s work, to preserve the Authentic Kahuna traditions until the time was right.
Dr. Wingo, who I call “Dad” gave that manuscript to me, and it is my charge to reveal the Authentic Kahuna Traditions to you.

However, our brother King Kalakaua summoned all of the most accomplished of the Kahuna Class from throughout the islands to the palace. He gathered everyone of importance, including High Temple Priests skilled in the arts of divination, philosophers, historians, doctors of spiritual medicine, etc.
The secret knowledge passed down orally in the priesthood through the generations was finally recorded in writing and locked away in the King's palace.
Then, on January 17, 1893 ... the day Kalakaua's sister, Queen Liliokalani was dethroned ... drug dealers and smugglers broke in to the palace and burned the former King's filing room.
Only Nana Mary Julia Glennie Bush survived to preserve the "secret treasure" of the Hamatua strong-hold. These teachings were passed-down to Leinani Melville, who alone preserved the Lost Secrets of the Kahuna.

Huna Code Words: Some Simple Basics
Max Freedom Long realized that the Hawaiian Kahuna must have had special words in their language to use to teach their beliefs to the younger priests. He began to study any words in the Hawaiian dictionary which might have to do with man's mental or spiritual nature.
He immediately found unmistakable words which describe the "parts of mind," as they are called in modern psychology.
After years of searching, he had started to learn the secret lore. Years passed before he found a "code" hidden in their language which told what they believed. This "code" aided him in discovering similar beliefs in other civilizations.
This code was built on a language which must have been identical phonetically to the language of the Huna tribes while they were in Egypt. In some of the lands visited by the migrating Huna tribes words of their language were left behind. Often these words became modified.
Fortunately, the Kahuna in Hawaii preserved their language with great care, because within their language lay a "code" which described their secret system.
If the language had been changed, key words would have been modified and the code would have never been preserved.
In order to keep their language pure, young Kahuna were trained to memorize long chants covering the history of the people and the genealogy of the chiefs on the surface. The deeper, hidden meaning behind these chants revealed the secret system translated by the Esoteric Code of the Kahuna. So if, while chanting these genealogies and legendary histories, a young priest changed a word, syllable, or a pronunciation, he was immediately corrected by the older Kahunas. As a result, the language in Hawaii remained unchanged over thousands of years.
Language modifications occurred in New Zealand and, to a greater degree, in Tahiti. But the Hawaiian language remained the purest and was the language Long used to find the key words to break the code and recover the ancient techniques of the Hawaiian Kahuna. His findings have been confirmed and supplemented by the work of Leinani Mellville.
The Hawaiian, like other Polynesian dialects, is a simple language. It is not agglutinated and does not change words to make tense or gender or number, instead it uses special words to show these changes. Hawaiian words are built from short root words, which together describe the full meaning of the idea. Since many root words have multiple meanings, it was ideal for a code language.
Max found that by translating each root, he could find the hidden meaning, or code meaning, of the key words in the Kahuna chants.
What complicated the breaking of the code is that certain words were used as the symbol of some part or element of the Huna system. If the symbolic meaning was not known, the true meaning of the statement could not be understood until recently.
For instance, in early Egypt the little pictured glyph of a grasshopper is to be found in the tombs with the mummy.
In Hawaii , the grasshopper was also a symbol for the same concept.
The Hawaiian word for grasshopper is unihipili. The definition given in the Andrews "Hawaiian-English Dictionary" of 1865 is "one name of a class of gods, while Aumakua is another. They were departed spirits of decomposed persons." Only by translating and considering the meaning of the roots of the words can one get at the real Huna meaning. It was the word used by the kahuna to indicate what we call the subconscious. None of the roots have anything to do with a grasshopper or with spirits or with a mummy of the deceased, but they all describe some characteristic of the subconscious mind.
The root pili means "united or joining" or "belonging to a person," and "to adhere to something." The subconscious is "joined to" and "belongs to" the body of the man. The root nihi describes "secretiveness, working silently and softly." The subconscious mind is certainly silent. The root u means a self, an "I."
The priests had an alternate word, uhinipili, for the subconscious, which repeats some of the root words, but contains others which provide additional meanings.
Uhi carries the meaning of "a weak voice, which is smothered by another voice." Another meaning is "to hide or be secretive." The Huna Code
"The Code Language"
One of the oldest and best kept secrets in the world has been undergoing thorough, investigative and analytical research during this last century. It is a secret which combines psychology with religion, perhaps the finest and best system of this kind that the world has ever known; and yet, modern man nearly lost this fundamental knowledge.
The pop culture movie “The Secret” presented a simplistic view of just one of the basic tenets of this ancient wisdom. Some of the basic precepts of Huna have been "rediscovered" and presented to us under the label of "positive thinking” or “the law of attraction.” However, most people who try the techniques for awhile and then give up, because the psychology does not work for them.
Why do these techniques often fail to produce the desired results?
An ancient secret supplies the answer.
The people who knew this secret system practiced a very sophisticated, but easy-to-use form, of positive thinking that applies the complete law of attraction with spectacular results. Unfortunately, some of the Kahuna’s most important concepts have NOT yet come into general knowledge. As a result, many people who have read books and have tried to "think positively" have found that practice does not work for them.
At least seven thousand years ago, a group of people knew the principles of positive thinking and the law of attraction … however, they understood the concepts far more clearly than our “modern” schools-of-thought. Their techniques were more sophisticated. With their additional knowledge, the ancient peoples who practiced this secret system performed what we now can only call miracles.
This secret contains much more than a successful method of creative thinking. It offers a philosophy of life that could be classified as a religion. The religious aspect seems to be the simplest, most complete, and finest fundamental system so far developed. It stands on its own merits, and clarifies the basic tenets of many of the world's faiths.
Originally this system was without a name. It was handed down from parent to child through centuries and centuries. As this system was originally "rediscovered" in Hawaii, Huna, the Polynesian word for "secret" was selected. The "u" is pronounced like the double "oo" in moon. The Polynesian word for "priest" is Kahuna, meaning "keeper of the secret."
The knowledge of Huna eventually spread by migration through several parts of the world. The initiatory material of this system was kept within a hereditary clan of priests. It was not written down. Instead, a special language was developed, which provided a means of giving both an inner and an outer meaning to any statement of the teachings.
These dual meanings were similar to the initiatory statements of the lodges and brotherhoods that we have today.
Only an initiate of the particular lodge can understand a particular secret phrase or statement. Similarly, only the Kahuna initiates could understand the inner meaning of a Huna phrase or statement.
Max Freedom Long spent the greater part of his life researching this special language. He wrote several books recording his findings, which describe in detail the "code" as he knew it.
He came upon evidence that there had been such a system of knowledge almost by accident, and then devoted more than fifty years unearthing and correlating the bits and pieces,.
We have only recently come into full possession of the priceless knowledge.
According to Charles Kenn, Max Freedom Long became acquainted with Doctor William Tufts Brigham and they became life-long friends. When they met, Dr. Brigham was the curator of the Bishop Museum of Natural History in Honolulu. When they met, Max had already spent forty years studying the Hawaiians, their society, religion and other aspects of their culture. Hearing that the Hawaiian Kahuna priests had fire-walked on red hot lava as it flowed from a volcano, he asked Dr. Brigham it there was any truth in the reports.
"Yes," he said, "these Kahuna priests lava-walked in my early days here in Hawaii."
He went on to explain how he himself had walked across red hot lava. He had burned off his heavy mountain boots and socks, yet his feet remained unburned. No one had treated his feet. All that the natives did was to pray for protection from the heat, and this protection was given.
Continuing this questioning, Long also confirmed the Kahuna priests had done remarkable healings.
"What have these people got?" he demanded.
Dr. Brigham replied, "A system of psychology and religion, which is pure enough and close enough to its source, whatever that is, to work for them. I have tried for forty years to learn how they perform their magic, but to no avail. The secret lore is very sacred to the native priests."
After this meeting with Dr. Brigham, Mr. Long spent the next sixteen years in Hawaii trying to find the meaning behind the chants and prayers of the Hawaiian priests. He continued the research later in California and, by 1936, had gained a fair knowledge of the basic principles of the secret lore.
Archaeologists have established that the present inhabitants of the Polynesian archipelago originally migrated from the Asian mainland. A study of Huna and its origins agrees with these findings.
In 1948, Werner Wolf revealed the similarity between the Egyptian glyph writings and the "Paddle Board" writings of the natives of Easter Island in the Pacific. He suggested some ancient tie between the Egyptians and the Easter Island branch of the Polynesians. Max Freedom Long's research definitely suggests the Polynesian Kahuna beiefs may have their origins in ancient Egypt.
His first book, "Recovering the Ancient Magic," was published in England. Among those who read it was Reginald Stewart, a war correspondent, who as a young man had learned of this same ancient lore from a tribe of Berbers in the Atlas mountains of North Africa.
An old woman, called a "Quahine." had demonstrated the workability of the ancient system. In fact, she took young Stewart as a blood son and started to teach him, together with her seventeen-year-old daughter, the ancient beliefs and practices. Unfortunately, she had only made a beginning of her instructions when she was accidentally killed by a stray bullet from a battle going on in a valley between two warring tribes. As there was no other teacher to be found, Stewart returned to England, carrying his notes with him. Years later when, reading Max's book, he realized that Long was writing about the same system he had learned, in part, from her.
Many of the special words that his teacher had used to describe her beliefs were almost identical to the Hawaiian. He sent Long a letter and soon was sharing what he knew. Together they managed to piece together the basics of the secret lore.
Among the other things the Quahine or "Woman Kahuna" had told Stewart was the legend of how her tribe had once been a part of twelve sub-tribes who had known and used Huna concepts, and who had lived in the Sahara Desert when it was still a green and fertile land of flowing rivers. As the rivers dried, the tribes foresaw that their lore was in danger of extinction. Concerned, they used their psychic powers to look about the world for a place to which they could move, an area where they would find safety for their beliefs. The place that they chose was the isolated Pacific.
The tribes left Egypt and went in large double canoes down the Red Sea into the Indian Ocean, and eventually made their way to the far Pacific Isles. There were, she said, twelve tribes; however, her tribe remained behind as a rear guard lest the others be detained by the rulers of the period. They eventually reached the Atlas mountain area where they were able to preserve the secret lore. The eleven tribes which got away divided. At least one tribe traveled along the coast of Africa to Madagascar. Some evidently settled there, since half of the island today, over two thousand years later, is inhabited by a light brown people, who speak a language which is one of the Polynesian dialects, called Malagasy.
Other Huna people migrated through Arabia and into India. In India they left traces of their ideas, but little of their language. Whereas in Madagascar the language provides the evidence, in India it comes from the ideas which were left behind. The Kahunas must have made friends with the religious men of that period. Apparently, the teachers of Yoga were initiated into the Huna beliefs. Unfortunately, the beliefs gradually became contaminated. As an example, breathing exercises, vital to the practitioners of Huna, are also important in Yoga. However, the yogis began to experiment and over the years most of the Huna concepts became mixed and muddled, until finally very little of the practical application of the original system exists in Yoga today.
On the other hand, the original Huna beliefs were still pure when Buddha established his doctrine as a reform of the Brahmanism of his day. Obviously, there was a knowledge of Huna on the part of Buddha and his followers, because there are esoteric elements of Buddhism which can be understood only by knowing the Huna system. For example, the concept of attaining Nirvana, ordinarily understood as blending back into the source of all life and thus ceasing to exist, takes on an entirely different meaning when one understands Huna.
From India the ten remaining initiate tribes migrated through the Sumatra and Java straits. The Madagascar tribe did not join them. In the islands of the Pacific are ten different dialects of the Polynesian tongue represented in New Zealand, in Hawaii, in Tahiti, in Samoa and in the smaller islands of the Pacific area.
Because of the remote location of these islands, the people were able to preserve their beliefs and practice them for over two thousand years, free from the influence of other beliefs.
The Huna people evidently settled in the Polynesian Islands before the writing of the Four Gospels because when the missionaries arrived in Hawaii, they were surprised to find that the natives knew all the main stories of the Old Testament, but knew nothing that was contained in the New Testament. Their legends told the story of the creation of Adam and Eve and the Garden. They had a close account of Noah and the Flood. They even knew of Jonah and the Whale. These were stories that had come from Chaldea and Babylonia, when the Jews were in captivity there. However, in none of the Hawaiian legends can be found even a trace of the story of Jesus or Mary or the Crucifixion.
The missionaries, who arrived in Hawaii in 1820, could not understand how the natives had learned the Old Testament stories. If early explorers had taught stories of Adam and Eve, they certainly would have told of Jesus and his disciples.
Following the migration to Polynesia, the system flourished.
The Kahunas who knew the secret system were healers. They could heal broken bones, often in an instant. They were also able to look into the future.
Then the missionaries arrived. The Hawaiians were impressed by their claim that Jesus performed healing miracles and, quite naturally, assumed that the Christians knew all about the Huna system. The missionary doctors, however, could not heal their sick as readily as the Kahuna healers. So the natives eventually realized that these Christians, while they had the outer semblance of some Huna, did not know the complete working system.
As the missionaries obtained political influence over the chiefs, and the Kahuna were outlawed.
The younger generation, the daughters and the sons who normally would have taken initiation and would have learned the secret, dill not undertake the necessary training. Gradually, as the older Kahuna began to die, the secret lore began to die as well.
Huna, after having been kept pure and intact throughout all the centuries, almost became lost.
The “Kahuna Motto” was the rule.

One of the oldest and best kept secrets in the world has been undergoing thorough, investigative and analytical research during this last century. It is a secret which combines psychology with religion, perhaps the finest and best system of this kind that the world has ever known; and yet, modern man nearly lost this fundamental knowledge.
The pop culture movie “The Secret” presented a simplistic view of just one of the basic tenets of this ancient wisdom. Some of the basic precepts of Huna have been "rediscovered" and presented to us under the label of "positive thinking” or “the law of attraction.” However, most people who try the techniques for awhile and then give up, because the psychology does not work for them.
Why do these techniques often fail to produce the desired results?
An ancient secret supplies the answer.
The people who knew this secret system practiced a very sophisticated, but easy-to-use form, of positive thinking that applies the complete law of attraction with spectacular results. Unfortunately, some of the Kahuna’s most important concepts have NOT yet come into general knowledge. As a result, many people who have read books and have tried to "think positively" have found that practice does not work for them.
At least seven thousand years ago, a group of people knew the principles of positive thinking and the law of attraction … however, they understood the concepts far more clearly than our “modern” schools-of-thought. Their techniques were more sophisticated. With their additional knowledge, the ancient peoples who practiced this secret system performed what we now can only call miracles.
This secret contains much more than a successful method of creative thinking. It offers a philosophy of life that could be classified as a religion. The religious aspect seems to be the simplest, most complete, and finest fundamental system so far developed. It stands on its own merits, and clarifies the basic tenets of many of the world's faiths.
Originally this system was without a name. It was handed down from parent to child through centuries and centuries. As this system was originally "rediscovered" in Hawaii, Huna, the Polynesian word for "secret" was selected. The "u" is pronounced like the double "oo" in moon. The Polynesian word for "priest" is Kahuna, meaning "keeper of the secret."
The knowledge of Huna eventually spread by migration through several parts of the world. The initiatory material of this system was kept within a hereditary clan of priests. It was not written down. Instead, a special language was developed, which provided a means of giving both an inner and an outer meaning to any statement of the teachings.
These dual meanings were similar to the initiatory statements of the lodges and brotherhoods that we have today.
Only an initiate of the particular lodge can understand a particular secret phrase or statement. Similarly, only the Kahuna initiates could understand the inner meaning of a Huna phrase or statement.
Max Freedom Long spent the greater part of his life researching this special language. He wrote several books recording his findings, which describe in detail the "code" as he knew it.
He came upon evidence that there had been such a system of knowledge almost by accident, and then devoted more than fifty years unearthing and correlating the bits and pieces,.
We have only recently come into full possession of the priceless knowledge.
According to Charles Kenn, Max Freedom Long became acquainted with Doctor William Tufts Brigham and they became life-long friends. When they met, Dr. Brigham was the curator of the Bishop Museum of Natural History in Honolulu. When they met, Max had already spent forty years studying the Hawaiians, their society, religion and other aspects of their culture. Hearing that the Hawaiian Kahuna priests had fire-walked on red hot lava as it flowed from a volcano, he asked Dr. Brigham it there was any truth in the reports.
"Yes," he said, "these Kahuna priests lava-walked in my early days here in Hawaii."
He went on to explain how he himself had walked across red hot lava. He had burned off his heavy mountain boots and socks, yet his feet remained unburned. No one had treated his feet. All that the natives did was to pray for protection from the heat, and this protection was given.
Continuing this questioning, Long also confirmed the Kahuna priests had done remarkable healings.
"What have these people got?" he demanded.
Dr. Brigham replied, "A system of psychology and religion, which is pure enough and close enough to its source, whatever that is, to work for them. I have tried for forty years to learn how they perform their magic, but to no avail. The secret lore is very sacred to the native priests."
After this meeting with Dr. Brigham, Mr. Long spent the next sixteen years in Hawaii trying to find the meaning behind the chants and prayers of the Hawaiian priests. He continued the research later in California and, by 1936, had gained a fair knowledge of the basic principles of the secret lore.
Archaeologists have established that the present inhabitants of the Polynesian archipelago originally migrated from the Asian mainland. A study of Huna and its origins agrees with these findings.
In 1948, Werner Wolf revealed the similarity between the Egyptian glyph writings and the "Paddle Board" writings of the natives of Easter Island in the Pacific. He suggested some ancient tie between the Egyptians and the Easter Island branch of the Polynesians. Max Freedom Long's research definitely suggests the Polynesian Kahuna beiefs may have their origins in ancient Egypt.
His first book, "Recovering the Ancient Magic," was published in England. Among those who read it was Reginald Stewart, a war correspondent, who as a young man had learned of this same ancient lore from a tribe of Berbers in the Atlas mountains of North Africa.
An old woman, called a "Quahine." had demonstrated the workability of the ancient system. In fact, she took young Stewart as a blood son and started to teach him, together with her seventeen-year-old daughter, the ancient beliefs and practices. Unfortunately, she had only made a beginning of her instructions when she was accidentally killed by a stray bullet from a battle going on in a valley between two warring tribes. As there was no other teacher to be found, Stewart returned to England, carrying his notes with him. Years later when, reading Max's book, he realized that Long was writing about the same system he had learned, in part, from her.
Many of the special words that his teacher had used to describe her beliefs were almost identical to the Hawaiian. He sent Long a letter and soon was sharing what he knew. Together they managed to piece together the basics of the secret lore.
Among the other things the Quahine or "Woman Kahuna" had told Stewart was the legend of how her tribe had once been a part of twelve sub-tribes who had known and used Huna concepts, and who had lived in the Sahara Desert when it was still a green and fertile land of flowing rivers. As the rivers dried, the tribes foresaw that their lore was in danger of extinction. Concerned, they used their psychic powers to look about the world for a place to which they could move, an area where they would find safety for their beliefs. The place that they chose was the isolated Pacific.
The tribes left Egypt and went in large double canoes down the Red Sea into the Indian Ocean, and eventually made their way to the far Pacific Isles. There were, she said, twelve tribes; however, her tribe remained behind as a rear guard lest the others be detained by the rulers of the period. They eventually reached the Atlas mountain area where they were able to preserve the secret lore. The eleven tribes which got away divided. At least one tribe traveled along the coast of Africa to Madagascar. Some evidently settled there, since half of the island today, over two thousand years later, is inhabited by a light brown people, who speak a language which is one of the Polynesian dialects, called Malagasy.
Other Huna people migrated through Arabia and into India. In India they left traces of their ideas, but little of their language. Whereas in Madagascar the language provides the evidence, in India it comes from the ideas which were left behind. The Kahunas must have made friends with the religious men of that period. Apparently, the teachers of Yoga were initiated into the Huna beliefs. Unfortunately, the beliefs gradually became contaminated. As an example, breathing exercises, vital to the practitioners of Huna, are also important in Yoga. However, the yogis began to experiment and over the years most of the Huna concepts became mixed and muddled, until finally very little of the practical application of the original system exists in Yoga today.
On the other hand, the original Huna beliefs were still pure when Buddha established his doctrine as a reform of the Brahmanism of his day. Obviously, there was a knowledge of Huna on the part of Buddha and his followers, because there are esoteric elements of Buddhism which can be understood only by knowing the Huna system. For example, the concept of attaining Nirvana, ordinarily understood as blending back into the source of all life and thus ceasing to exist, takes on an entirely different meaning when one understands Huna.
From India the ten remaining initiate tribes migrated through the Sumatra and Java straits. The Madagascar tribe did not join them. In the islands of the Pacific are ten different dialects of the Polynesian tongue represented in New Zealand, in Hawaii, in Tahiti, in Samoa and in the smaller islands of the Pacific area.
Because of the remote location of these islands, the people were able to preserve their beliefs and practice them for over two thousand years, free from the influence of other beliefs.
The Huna people evidently settled in the Polynesian Islands before the writing of the Four Gospels because when the missionaries arrived in Hawaii, they were surprised to find that the natives knew all the main stories of the Old Testament, but knew nothing that was contained in the New Testament. Their legends told the story of the creation of Adam and Eve and the Garden. They had a close account of Noah and the Flood. They even knew of Jonah and the Whale. These were stories that had come from Chaldea and Babylonia, when the Jews were in captivity there. However, in none of the Hawaiian legends can be found even a trace of the story of Jesus or Mary or the Crucifixion.
The missionaries, who arrived in Hawaii in 1820, could not understand how the natives had learned the Old Testament stories. If early explorers had taught stories of Adam and Eve, they certainly would have told of Jesus and his disciples.
Following the migration to Polynesia, the system flourished.
The Kahunas who knew the secret system were healers. They could heal broken bones, often in an instant. They were also able to look into the future.
Then the missionaries arrived. The Hawaiians were impressed by their claim that Jesus performed healing miracles and, quite naturally, assumed that the Christians knew all about the Huna system. The missionary doctors, however, could not heal their sick as readily as the Kahuna healers. So the natives eventually realized that these Christians, while they had the outer semblance of some Huna, did not know the complete working system.
As the missionaries obtained political influence over the chiefs, and the Kahuna were outlawed.
The younger generation, the daughters and the sons who normally would have taken initiation and would have learned the secret, dill not undertake the necessary training. Gradually, as the older Kahuna began to die, the secret lore began to die as well.
Huna, after having been kept pure and intact throughout all the centuries, almost became lost.
The “Kahuna Motto” was the rule.
* "Conceal in Secrecy."
* "Preserve in Silence."
* "Disguise our Inner Teachings with a False Outer Mask."
* "Those who are "born into our house" are entitled to know the secrets of our
house."
* "Those who do NOT belong are not entitled to know what we know."
However, our brother King Kalakaua summoned all of the most accomplished of the Kahuna Class from throughout the islands to the palace. He gathered everyone of importance, including High Temple Priests skilled in the arts of divination, philosophers, historians, doctors of spiritual medicine, etc.
The secret knowledge passed down orally in the priesthood through the generations was finally recorded in writing and locked away in the King's palace.
Then, on January 17, 1893 ... the day Kalakaua's sister, Queen Liliokalani was dethroned ... drug dealers and smugglers broke in to the palace and burned the former King's filing room.
Only Nana Mary Julia Glennie Bush survived to preserve the "secret treasure" of the Hamatua strong-hold. These teachings were passed-down to Leinani Melville, who alone preserved the Lost Secrets of the Kahuna.
Before he died, Leinani gave the only existing copy of the "Lost and Hidden Secrets of the Esoteric Code of the Kahuna" to Morrnah Simeona to keep it secure until she could pass it on to “The True Legacy of the Kahuna."
With the blessing of the living Kahuna Elders at the time, Morrnah gave that manuscript to Dr. E. Otha Wingo, to whom Max Freedom Long entrusted his entire life’s work, to preserve the Authentic Kahuna traditions until the time was right.
Dr. Wingo, who I call “Dad” gave that manuscript to me, and it is my charge to reveal the Authentic Kahuna Traditions to you.

Huna 101: The Basics
The Huna teachings are the Ancient "Secret Science Behind Miracles" that has finally come to the West through the work of Max Freedom Long and others.
Long initially learned about the teachings of Huna from William Tufts Brigham who had spent forty years living in Hawaii, trying to understand the secrets of the lost and secret teachings of the Hawaiian Kahuna.
Long spend the next forty years studying and working with the Huna teachings, until his death in 1971. The work has now passed-down to Rev. James Vinson Wingo, DD, who is the International head of Max Freedom Long's Huna Research Associates and High Priest of the Huna Fellowship.
It teaches the practical application of Huna and many other Kahuna techniques.
The essence of Huna teachings is that the human being is made up of three levels of consciousness, known as selves, or minds. The Kahuna called the conscious mind the "uhane," or middle self. The "middle self" is that part of you that is conscious of its own existence and has the ability to reason. It also has the free will to create as it pleases, along with the inner self, or "low self. "
The subconscious mind is called the "unihipili" or low self. It is the part of you that is unconscious. It is the storehouse of all memory and the seat of the emotions. Its is the "inner child" of pop psychology and the New Age movement. with only simplistic, deductive reasoning.
The term "low" has no reference to rank or importance, only to the fact that it is below the level of consciousness of the middle self and to the fact that its bodily center is in the solar plexus rather than in the head.
The third part is the High Self, called the "Aumakua" by the Kahuna.
The high self is the "utterly trust-worthy parental spirit."
This higher part of you lives at a higher plane of consciousness, outside the physical body. It will not intervene in the affairs of life unless asked to do so.
This is understood to be a cosmic law your High Self must adhere to.
The high self can see into the "crystallized future" and creates your future "automatically" from your day-to-day thoughts.
As you thoughts change throughout your daily life, so your future likewise change.
Huna also teaches that communication with your High Self occurs quite naturally during sleep. It is in that contact that most of the thoughts-of-the-day are used by the High Self to materialize conditions in your future.
Huna teachings say that each of the three selves is equally important, and has its proper role to perform in the life of the individual. Your health, and happiness depend on the integration, blending, and harmonizing of your three selves.
Huna teaches that your High Self expresses ALL the Divine qualities … compassion ... patience ... love ... and forgiveness.
This is the IDEAL to which you, the middle self, are to aspire.

Rev. Vince Wingo Found Dead at Age 39!
Yep.
Turns out I died.
Personally, I found the whole thing very entertaining!
The young lady doing the EEG seemed pretty nice, but I was quite startled when she said my brain-wave pattern showed ...
... Brain Dead.
"Huh?"
I opened my eyes.
... the read-out kicked back into action.
"That's odd," she said.
I closed my eyes and went deeper into level.
"Dead."
She called for back-up.
They tinkered around and then called the Department
Head.
"That's odd."
"Must be the equipment."
... that's what they said when I "blew-out" the MRI
machine the second time, too!
"Such Fun!"
So there IS a "Kahuna Plane" ... a level of mind much deeper than any other mind level ever recorded!
... a level of mind where you can move objects!
... heal instantly!
... perform miracles!
... etc.

Because so many have overlooked the original work on Huna, a number of mis-conceptions arose about Max Freedom Long and Huna which are still perpetuated today by well-meaning Hawaiians who follow some of the old ways.
You might even be able to find differences between "Huna" and some parts of Ancient Hawaiian Religion, culture, beliefs, etc. This is especially true if you looked only on the surface.
But Huna is not a Hawaiian Religion.
HUNA was the name given by Max Freedom Long to the SYSTEM he recovered and synthesized during over fifty years of research with the help and cooperation of Kahuna
on various islands and with the help of volunteers throughout the world.
HUNA was developed FOR people raised within Modern, Western culture as a practical system of psychology and magic ... so it is based on PROCESS ... the process behind the TECHNIQUES rather than the specific outer teachings, rituals, and stories of the Kahuna of ancient Hawaii, who for centuries kept them as their closely guarded secrets.
Max chose the word Huna (the Hawaiian word for "secret") in the 1930's to describe the psychological/religious METHODS used by the Kahuna ("Keepers of the Secret") in performing their particular kinds of "miracles" or "magic."
So Huna was developed to teach MODERN MAN in Western Culture how to perform the same kind of miracles ... such as:
- Healing the Sick.
- Solving personal problems.
- Untangling financial and social difficulties.
- ... even changing the future.
Certified Huna Practitioners perform these same functions.
... which is especially important to understand given renewed interest in Morrnah Simeona's updated Huna technique of Self I-Dentity Ho'oponopono.
Huna, as properly defined and shared, is all about sharing workable techniques you can easily use to guide you in the process of uncovering and mastering your own hidden resources ... instead of playing following-the-leader.
That means the real teaching comes from within yourself ... and not from ANY so-called "authority."
So ... as I'm always emphasizing ...

Again we celebrate the victory of Light over Darkness, of the God of day over the hosts of night. Again Samson is victorious over Delilah, and Hercules triumphs once more over Omphale. In the embrace of Isis, Osiris rises from the dead, and the scowling Typhon is defeated once more. Again Apollo, with unerring aim, with his arrow from the quiver of light, destroys the serpent of shadow. This is the festival of Thor, of Baldur and of Prometheus. Again Buddha by a miracle escapes from the tyrant of Madura, Zoroaster foils the King, Bacchus laughs at the rage of Cadmus, and Chrishna eludes the tyrant.
This is the festival of the sun-god, and as such let its observance be universal.
This is the great day of the first religion, the mother of all religions—the worship of the sun.
Sun worship is not only the first, but the most natural and most reasonable of all. And not only the most natural and the most reasonable, but by far the most poetic, the most beautiful.
The sun is the god of benefits, of growth, of life, of warmth, of happiness, of joy. The sun is the all-seeing, the all-pitying, the all-loving.
This bright God knew no hatred, no malice, never sought for revenge.
All evil qualities were in the breast of the God of darkness, of shadow, of night. And so I say again, this is the festival of light. This is the anniversary of the triumph of the Sun over the hosts of Darkness.
Let us all hope for the triumph of Light—of Right and Reason— for the victory of Fact over Falsehood, of Science over Superstition.
And so hoping, let us celebrate the venerable festival of the Sun.

Huna: The Three Most Common Mistakes People Make with the Huna Prayer
Keys to a Successful Outcome.
Here's how to get MORE from your Huna practice.
Simply put, the quality of your thought-form determines your success.
... so we're going to focus on THREE KEY ELEMENTS of an effective thought-form.
The Telepathic Mutual Healing Group (TMHG) has been very active lately and reports of success are up, so we'll use the TMHG article as our frame of reference. Steps Two and Three cover the creation of the though-form to be energized.
When creating your thought-form, keep these things in mind.
#1 – State Your Outcome in Positive Terms.
Remember you're creating your desired results …
... so don't picture the problem, picture the SOLUTION instead.
Creating the conditions you want.
The most common mistake I hear takes the form "Send energy for my money problems." The only way to create a picture from that is to picture the problem. Think about how things will be when you have your desired outcome and describe/picture that.
#2 – Go to the END of the Process.
If you're trying to sell a house, don't picture people wanting to buy it … picture it SOLD …
... the papers have been signed ... the money's in-the-bank ... everyone's happy.
#3 – Suggest an Action ... NOT the "ability to act."
"I want to be able to run like I used to."
NO!
... do you want to be "able" to run or do you want to be running ... feeling good ... etc?
Picture what you will be doing, how things will be at the successful completion of your desired goal.
OK?
So take a look at your current project and evaluate your thought-form by these three keys. And, having done that, here are some other keys to consider.
